What inspired you to write this book?
I was working on the last book in my contemporary series, and I needed to take a break from it. I’ve always loved reading paranormal shifter romances, steamy and non-steamy, but I couldn’t find a lot of non-steamy books. I’d been dreaming up ideas and thought I’d write one just for fun. It was only supposed to be one book, and I’d go back to writing my contemporary series, but the family wanted their stories told, and two years later the nine-book series is now all out.
What can we expect from you in the future?
I’m so excited to be able to share this with you! I’m working with four other authors on an anthology that will include pirates/shifters/fairy-tale retellings. It’ll be five full-length novels and the one I’m writing is called Pirate’s Mate. It’ll be the first book in a new nine-book series about the Sisters Jade. I also have a few contemporary series I want to start working on too. There’s just so many ideas and so little time.
Do you have any “side stories” about the characters?
Not yet, but I want to. I have a new series idea about some side characters in the series. A whole new family but related to Miti—the grandmother in the McCullough Pack series.
What did you enjoy most about writing this book?
I loved being able to include magic and lots of my imagination. I didn’t have to stick with only realistic scenes like I did in my contemporary series.
Anything specific you want to tell your readers?
Each book is about a different couple, but the overarching storyline runs through all the books, so the books have to be read in order.
Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story?
They hijack the story all the time. I’ve tried outlining, but the story changes as soon as I start typing, the characters wanting to go their own direction, and I let them. It’s like they’re telling me the story.
