CLARA

Unfairly convicted of a crime, I’m sent to serve the Kadrixan males for their rutting season.

The Kadrixans. Even their name inspires terror. Fiery-skinned and devil-like, they stand head and shoulders taller than any human man. Our colony made a terrible bargain with these monsters. The Kadrixans give us precious ore in exchange for the one thing they need.

Women. Like me.

When we meet our Kadrixan captors, I come face to face with a massive, brawny beast who claims I belong to him.

And not just for the rutting season. He wants me forever.

KRXARE

I never expected to claim a human mate, but one look at the curvy female and I know she’s mine.

Hunger claws at my mind and that of every other warrior in my regiment. All of us are on the brink of the rut which makes us more belligerent with each passing day. Without females, we’ll tear each other apart with rage.

We depend upon our bargain. Human females for Kadrixan ore.

The females arrive and there is one who stirs my primitive desire: Clara. She thinks I’m a monster; I see it in her eyes and scent it in her fear. She vows to return to her people after the rut is over, but I vow to claim my mate, to woo her and prove she’s mine.

。・:*˚:✧。MY REVIEW。・:*˚:✧。

Clare lives in the colony that doesn’t allow you to not have a job or be homeless. She spoke out against the superiors in the government and lost her job and lively hood. Now she is a criminal by their standers. She faces the choice to go to the Utopia project, where people never see you again or join the rut with the Kadrixan aliens. Neither choice is good, she thinks, but choosing the rut means she can come home to her brother. But when she gets there, everything changes the minute Krxare’s eyes land on her.

Lynnea did a wonderful job with world building and kept everything consistent throughout the book. Didn’t really see any errors, but you get so engrossed in the book you wouldn’t notice them even if they popped out at you. I loved how a mighty warrior like Krxare would bend over backwards for his mate and didn’t think twice about saving her from herself when she made a stupid decision. He is the leader for a reason and he is strong and a well-developed character.

Clara is a girl that comes off kind of confused with how things are going in her life. When she meets Krxare, she finds herself torn between being afraid of him, but deep down, she knows he is perfect for her. It doesn’t take Krxare long to win her over, but she asks some good questions that help her understand her feelings that help the plot line move forward without a hitch.

The story was so captivating I found myself eager to finish the book and read more into the series. It would be good as a standalone if you decided not to continue the series, but there are bread crumbs that leave you wanting to continue on to the next book in the series.

If I had to give this book five stars, I would definitely without a doubt give it a 5/5 stars. Highly recommend this book to any romance reader that loves a winged alpha male that takes care of his mate. A lot of steam is present in this book and you won’t be able to put it down.

Still hopelessly addicted to the feeling of falling in love she now feeds her habit with a routine prescription of romance novels and rampant imagination.
